Rebecca Mae, MFT

Rebecca is excited to partner with her clients on his/her/their healing journey while offering listening ears, empathy, and a safe space. She is hopeful that her clients experience a sense of peace—almost like taking in a breath of fresh air, feeling less lonely or stuck, feeling more heard, or feeling a sense of balance due to positive transformation and growth from deeper insight and/or skills in their lives and relationships. Collaborating with her client, Rebecca likes to explore current deeper themes/patterns, provide helpful tools to facilitate the journey, and/or make connections with the client’s past experiences. She believes our past experiences have powerful influence on our present feelings, thoughts, and stories we tell about others, the world, and ourselves.

Growing up in South America as a Korean American, Rebecca encountered people from diverse cultures. This has fostered a curiosity and love for different people groups. Hence, her style is one of curiosity, empathy, and openness.

Some of her professional experiences has been supporting couples to better navigate the beauty and hardships of being in committed relationship through better communication and more connection; helping individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, phobias, stress, self-esteem issues, anger management, grief, addiction, and transgender issues; and working with children with special needs, as well as typically developing elementary school-aged children and their families in both school and clinical settings as they work through behavioral issues, parenting, and family conflict.

Rebecca holds a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling, Nyack College, a COAMFTE accredited university. Prior to clinical career, Rebecca received her Masters in Special and General Education for Grades 1-6 from Bank Street Graduate School of Education, and worked as a NYC public school teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development at Binghamton University. Moreover, she is a certified Prepare Enrich facilitator and is trained in two of three levels of Gottman Couples Therapy to counsel premarital and married couples. Rebecca is also a member of the New York Chapter of AAMFT.
On her free time, Rebecca and her husband enjoy exploring their Brooklyn neighborhood, being part of their church community, doing yoga and rock climbing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

As an associate therapist Rebecca is able to accept sliding scale clients.
