William Sullivan, therapy intern at North Brooklyn Marriage and Family Therapy

Liam Sullivan, Intern

Liam Sullivan is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern who draws from an integrative systemic approach, tailoring each session to the unique dynamics of the client or couple. Influenced by structural family therapy and emotionally focused work, Liam brings a balance of directness and curiosity to the therapy room—gently disrupting stuck relational patterns while helping clients move toward greater emotional honesty and intimacy.

His style is collaborative and hands-on, grounded in the belief that how we relate often speaks louder than what we say. Liam works from the inside out—guiding clients through the emotional undercurrents of their conflicts and helping them rewire patterns at the structural level. He uses active interventions, deep emotional inquiry, and real-time interactional shifts to bring clarity and momentum to the work.

Liam is especially passionate about working with couples, LGBTQ+ clients, and creative individuals navigating transitions, identity formation, and communication breakdowns. He brings warmth, structure, and flexibility to his work with both individuals and relational systems.

He is currently completing his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University, a COAMFTE-accredited program, and is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He also holds a BFA in Film and Theater from New York University and brings a creative, systems-minded lens to his clinical work.
