Rocky Tishma is a dedicated and compassionate Couples and Family Therapist as well as a Certified Sex Therapist, committed to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate the complexities of relationships and personal growth. With a solid educational foundation and extensive professional experience, Rocky provides a supportive and empathetic environment for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.

Rocky graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, complemented by a minor in Marriage and Family Therapy. Pursuing a deeper understanding of relational dynamics, Rocky earned a Master’s degree in Couples and Family Therapy from Antioch University New England. Further specializing in sexual health and therapy, Rocky completed a rigorous one-year, 20-credit, Certificate of Sex Therapy program at Antioch University Seattle.

Believing that therapy should feel like a heartfelt conversation with a trusted confidant, Rocky creates a space where clients can speak freely and openly about whatever is on their minds. While recognizing that therapy can sometimes be uncomfortable, Rocky ensures that it is never painful, fostering an environment of trust and safety. Drawing from systemic and attachment theories while employing a narrative model, Rocky helps clients understand their experiences and relationships in a meaningful context.

Narrative therapy operates on the idea that each person has their own story, one they’ve recounted to themselves and others repeatedly. Sometimes, these stories become overwhelmed by “problems.” Through this approach, Rocky assists clients in externalizing these problems, separating them from their identity. Together, they deconstruct the issues into manageable parts, find ways to address these pieces, and then reconstruct a more empowered and enriching narrative. With the tools gained through this work, clients will be able to continue to edit their narratives long after therapy has concluded.

With over five years of professional experience in the mental health field, Rocky has worked with a diverse range of individuals, couples, families, polycules, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. He has particular expertise in assisting those who have experienced religious trauma and conversion therapy, offering a nuanced and sensitive approach to these challenging issues.

Rocky’s dedication to the well-being of clients and his ability to create a warm, conversational therapeutic environment make him a valuable resource for anyone seeking to improve their relationships and personal well-being.
