Sarah Sá Couto, Intern

Sarah is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern, who supports individual clients and couples in finding a greater sense of authenticity, intimacy, and aliveness.

Her approach is collaborative and grounded in Solution-Focused and Narrative therapy. She works with clients to better understand their experiences and to move toward changes that reflect their values and intentions. Her areas of interest include deepening communication, particularly using Nonviolent Communication (NVC), working through the legacy of trauma and emotional neglect, including patterns of codependency, and engaging with multicultural dynamics.

Sarah brings her multicultural background into her work and offers therapy in Spanish and Portuguese. She also has an interest in meaning-making, shaped in part by her years working in the art world. Her work is guided by warmth and a nonjudgmental stance.

Sarah is currently completing her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a concentration in trauma, at Syracuse University (COAMFTE accredited) and is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London.
